Shuttlebrook Woolen Mill has been weaving on the same site since 1871. We are not a brand that places orders with a mill; we are the mill. The looms, the fulling stocks, the nap gig and the binding tables are all in one brick building on the Lamoille River, and the people running them live within twenty minutes of it.
Handwoven wool and alpaca throws, cotton and linen throws, coverlets and quilts, percale and sateen sheeting, shams, bath towels, pillow covers and table linen. Roughly 187 pieces are on the floor at any time. Some of the patterns have been in the book for over a century.
We do not licence cartoon characters. We do not run a clearance cycle designed to make full price look like a bargain. We do not photograph our cloth on other people's products. When a piece comes off the line imperfect we say so and sell it as a Mill Second rather than quietly shipping it at full price.
Wool is renewable, biodegradable, naturally flame-resistant, and it holds warmth when damp. It is also heavy, slow to dry, and it will felt if you put it in a hot machine. We would rather tell you that than sell you a blanket you ruin in March.
